As you would be aware, AUSkey is being deactivated at the end of the month. Your TrussRTO system currently uses AUSkey to authenticate as your RTO for the validation (and in some cases, creation) of USIs.

AUSkey's replacement is based on two things - RAM (Relationship Authorisation Manager) and an M2M (Machine To Machine) credential. The M2M credential is held by Truss, and authenticates us to the USI office as ourselves.

Relationship Authorisation Manager is an ATO (Australian Taxation Office) service which allows business owners to authorised third parties to operate on their behalf (tax agents, ASIC agents, etc).

In order to be ready for this change, you will need to have access to Relationship Authorisation Manager.

These are the steps to prepare:

  1. The principal of your RTO must create a MyGovID if they don't already have one: https://www.mygovid.gov.au/

This requires installation of an App on an Android Phone or iPhone. The App is used to provide authentication when logging into RAM.

By Principal we mean a Director, Trustee, Partner, or some other person who will have authority to act as the buiness with the ATO. If you're a sole trader, that's you!

  2. They must increase their "Identity Strength" to at least "Standard" once the App is installed.

This is done by providing Passport, Drivers Licence, Medicare or Birth Certificate details.

All this information is securely stored and validated by the ATO. We never see this information

  3. Once this is done, they need to access Relationship Authorisation Manager

That's done by clicking the "Log in with MyGovID" on the RAM Homepage ( https://info.authorisationmanager.gov.au/ )

  4. Once logged in, they need to link the organisation that holds your RTO Registration

This is done via the first button on the homepage

The process involves the ATO using your personal details to find organisations you're associated with. Be sure to select the organisation that holds your RTO Registration

  5. Once linked, verify you can get to the correct location

The first step is to click "View or manage authorisations..."

Then click the name of the business that holds your RTO Registration

On the next screen, click "Manage Notifications":

If you see the above screen (including mention of the "Office of the Student Identifiers Registrar"), you are ready to go.

Instructions for next steps are provided (along with your Software Registration info) via a dashboard in your Truss RTO system:

Once you've completed all the above steps, proceed to that dashboard to take the final steps.

In a newly released update to the Truss RTO software system, we've deployed fixes to allow devices with smaller screen sizes to work better within Truss RTO.

On intermediate screen sizes such as large tablets, landscape tablets or smaller laptops, the Truss RTO system will now scales dashboard content and text to fit better and to be easier to read.

These changes have been rolled out to all sections of the Truss RTO platform dashboard, you might notice font sizes drawing slightly smaller to fit in as much content as possible.
We haven't changed anything on the Trainer or Student portals, these changes are only for you Truss Admins to make your life easier while using the system.

As always please let us know your feedback, we'd love to hear what you think!

As the system has evolved, the number of tabs in a Student Profile for an Adminsitrator has become far too long. This will be live on Friday morning this week - the 20 July.

  • We're merging a lot of the current tabs. The new tabs will be: Overview, Contact Details, Documents (containing credential documents and any uploads), Online Learning, Fees, Tickets (for clients that have CI Tickets) and Activity Log.

  • The Activity Log will show a centralised list of all contact to the student, including emails, SMSes, notes and more. This feature has been asked for multiple times, and we are happy to say that your patience is now be...

We've made a few design changes this past month to increase the clarity of Truss RTO and provide you with more immediate information.

The Subjects Dash

The team have been hard at work redesigning the Subjects dashboard page. The Subjects dashboard (under Training Admin) as it stood was too busy to the eye, and didn't make what you needed to know immediately as clear as it should have been.

Keeping this in mind, we've changed the design and layout from this:

To this:

We've recently made some changes to how Truss RTO is priced and updated the features available for RTOs to utilise.

More Affordable for startup RTOs

We've been working hard this past year to continue to add to and develop the Truss RTO Student Management System for our customers. While our features have increased, our SIMPLE upfront Build & Onboarding cost has become even more affordable! Lowering the cost from $1,995 to $1,795.

More Features for established providers

Effective today our most popular package (Smart) has some new amazing features added without any additional cost:

The Truss RTO team have been hard at work over the autumn adding new features to the Truss software platform.

The two major announcements are the Staged AVETMISS Editor and the new Short Class Finalise Workflow.

Staged AVETMISS Editor

When looking at a Student Record there's a tab called "Update Contact Details". Currently for a lot of clients this is showing a full online enrolment form, and can be confusing to edit particular fields. We've been trialling a staged editor to allow admin users to update just part of the AVETMISS record and save independently of the rest of the information. Next week on Wednesday we will be releasing this featu...
